I was in charge of the overall exhibition graphics for the exhibition held under the title ≪Scene and Alienation≫. Because the message the organizers intended to deliver through the exhibition lay in the 'process' rather than the 'result value', there were two concerns for image expression: 1. How to express the dynamic progressing state of [Process] in static results like posters and books. 2. How to express the contrasting messages of [Scene] (a dynamic form) and [Alienation] (a relatively static form). To solve these problems, I went through a stage of defining a visual concept with the phrase [Observation: Things visible only if you stay]. For [1], I specifically adopted the method of using Scodix treatment without ink to minimize static elements on the resulting poster. Through Scodix, which has low opacity and the form of a thin film, I intended the poster's appearance to function dynamically depending on positioning and illumination, meaning the degree of reflected light changes based on location. For [2], to intuitively express the dynamic state, I first experimented by expressing the title [Scene] in a way that it never separates but remains connected under any conditions. Based on experimental results, I adopted a structure where the title [Scene] spills over by 1/4 on both the left and right sides of the page. I thought that if [Not separating, continuing] was confined solely within the page, the message intended could clash. Subsequently, to express the static state of [Alienation], I sought the most alienated space on the page and completely separated it by setting the kerning wide to increase the contrast with the title [Scene].
